Help with College Costs

Graduation cap and coins in a jar labeled educationGrants, scholarships, loans, and work-study opportunities are all ways that can help you pay for college. Loans must be repaid, but most grants do not. Scholarships are also free money and can be based on academic merit, talent, a specific area of study, and/or financial need.

It is important to understand how financial aid works so you are making the best financial decisions for you. The Michigan Student Aid website provides information and resources for families looking for ways to help pay for college.

The single most important step you can take to get money for college is to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®). Finding and applying for local, state, and national scholarships can also help you secure financial support for college.
